Black Power Unlimited (BPU) is Black and Brown led. We prioritize Black, Brown and Indigenous community, arts, and cultural activities that build our collective liberation. BPU’s mission is to keep Washington Hall an accessible gathering space that amplifies the brilliance of the Black Central District. As an anchor tenant of Washington Hall carrying forward the work started at Hidmo in 2010, BPU has played a key role in the renovation, preservation, and management of the space. BPU continues to build on the vision of Rahwa Habte, one of its founders, a beloved community organizer and cultural innovator who transitioned to be with our ancestors in 2020.
